10th edition of Caregiving Week
Several highlights during Caregiving Fest for seniors and their caregivers.
Caregiving Week 2025, an annual flagship event by Caregiving Welfare Association (CWA), will culminate in the Caregiving Fest 2025 at Sengkang Grand Mall, Atrium on September 20, 2025. This year marks the 10th edition of Caregiving Week and is themed “A Lifeline for Seniors”.
“Caregiving Week 2025 is a rallying call to strengthen the lifelines that support seniors and their caregivers,” said Dr Tan Jit Seng, president of CWA. “As we mark the 10th edition of Caregiving Week, we reaffirm our commitment to building a sustainable, inclusive network of care that uplifts both seniors and their caregivers.”
Visitors to Caregiving Fest can look forward to a host of highlights:
- The launch of CareJourney, a new structured pathway of support for caregivers of seniors. The new initiative by CWA provides a structured and guided pathway to support caregivers at every stage – from those just beginning, to active caregivers, and even former caregivers transitioning after their journey. The pilot will begin with caregivers supporting loved ones with chronic geriatric conditions such as stroke and dementia, particularly those facing challenges navigating care systems and resources. By offering direct, individualised support and linking caregivers to partners such as MindCare, Singapore National Stroke Association, STC Institute of Learning and The Salvation Army Peacehaven, CareJourney reduces the need for caregivers to repeatedly re-explain their circumstances across different providers. This coordinated approach ensures faster help in times of distress, continuity of care as needs evolve, and equips caregivers with knowledge, tools and emotional support, ultimately ensuring that no caregiver walks the path alone.
- The release of CWA’s Home-based Monitoring Programme White Paper, a roadmap for scaling preventative care across Singapore. The Home-based Monitoring Programme (previously piloted as the Remote Monitoring & Support Programme) uses technology such as fall-detection sensors and remote monitoring devices to improve the safety and well-being of vulnerable and solo-living seniors. The White Paper consolidates findings from the 2024 pilot and outlines how the programme can be deployed, adapted and scaled affordably across diverse community settings. It provides a roadmap for policymakers, funders and social service agencies to collaborate in scaling preventative care nationwide, reducing hospitalisations and ensuring seniors remain safe and supported at home.
- The “My Life Behind the Door” interactive exhibition, supported by the National University of Singapore’s Tembusu College, where participants experience the daily struggles of caregiving through immersive activities. Visitors can wear ageing simulation suits, attempt household tasks within the space, and experience first-hand the daily struggles many caregivers face behind closed doors. The exhibition fosters empathy and awareness, reminding us that many caregivers, often seniors themselves, sacrifice time, rest and careers to care for loved ones. It highlights the urgent need for greater recognition and support for caregivers in Singapore.
- Performances including the Care & Couture fashion show (with seniors modelling upcycled outfits designed with Fashion Parade) and a seniors’ dance performance.
- Eco-themed workshops by The Good Earth School and The Mill International, such as making coffee scrubs, essential oil blends, wallets from recycled plastic, and carabiners from recycled carpet.
- Resource booths by community partners including AIC, Active Global, Healthier SG, Kampung Kakis, Mindfull Community Limited, NTUC Health, STC Institute of Learning and The Salvation Army Peacehaven.
Admission is free, and the event is open to caregivers, seniors, volunteers, corporates and members of the public. For more information about Caregiving Week 2025, go to: https://caregivingweek.com.
