Time of Your Life Celebration
The event held in conjunction with the United Nations’ International Day of Older Persons is back with a special focus on explorative ageing and lifelong learning.
The Time of Your Life (TOYL) Celebration by the National Library Board returns on October 2025 with a special focus on explorative ageing and lifelong learning. The event is held in conjunction with the United Nations’ International Day of Older Persons, which is on October 1.
From October 1 to 31, you can look forward to a variety of programmes, workshops, performances and showcases at the various public libraries! Some of the programmes:
- Digital Health Navigator: Master Singapore’s Wellness Apps – You can learn how to maximise Healthy365 features for activity tracking and reward earning, and get tips on using HealthHub to access health records, book medical appointments. and find trusted health.
- Try It All: Discover Your Next Passion – There will be a buffet of different activities, designed as short tasters so you get to try your hand at everything such as crochet, digital gaming and e-sports, tai chi, sewing and more.
- AI Art Generation for Creative Therapy and Expression – You will learn to use AI-powered art tools to create personalised digital artworks as a form of creative therapy and self-expression. No artistic background or prior technical skills are required.
- Tiny But Mighty: A Social Robot With a Big Mission – Learn why social robots are becoming increasingly popular, especially in super-ageing countries like Japan and Korea. Come and discover LOVOT, an innovative social companion robot designed to provide emotional support and enhance mental well-being through physical interaction and emotional responsiveness.
- Caring with Compassion: Empathetic Communication – Find out how you can support loved ones who may be going through a difficult time. This workshop will equip you with essential skills to better understand individuals who are facing terminal illnesses and their caregivers, and provide insight into how you can foster trust and connection with them. Learn practical techniques to communicate with compassion, listen actively, and offer empathetic care.
- Thriving After 50: Reposition, Don’t Compete – Explore how seniors can make smarter, more intentional decisions about work, finances, time and meaning.
- Road Less Travelled – Sit down with some “human books” including artiste Suhaimi Yusof, 55; Squad 2X2, a seniors e-sports team; model Arun Rosiah, 61 and Maheswari d/o Thiagarayan, 55, on her fitness journey.
- Transforming Care: The Future of Elder Care – Take a guided tour of Bright Hill Evergreen Home to see how the home plans and maximises its space to benefit residents. See how programmes are curated as part of residents’ everyday lives.
There will also be guitar and ukelele performances.
