C3A launches its Chinese portal after two years introducing its English portal.

Senior Minister of State, Prime Minister's Office, Heng Chee How and chairman of C3A, Chua Foo Yong, launching the C3A Chinese portal.

After launching its English portal two years ago, the Council for Third Age (C3A) has launched a Chinese portal, which provides resources to seniors who are looking for news, activities and deals to encourage them to stay active. The portal is in line with a recent dipstick survey conducted by the Council that indicates connecting seniors to society can help improve their quality of life and widen their social network.

The Chinese portal incorporates many senior-friendly features such as enlarged font size, easy-to-navigate layout with vibrant colours, and image-rich content, which includes articles in recipes, health, travel, culture and finance. According to C3A, the content will be different from the English portal and the organisation has partnered with close to 120 commercial, voluntary welfare organisations and Government agencies as well as the overseas and local community.

In addition to its launch, C3A celebrated the graduation of 40 seniors who participated in a pilot buddy network initiative called “Kopi and Toast”. The senior-to-senior programme, for instance, pairs an active senior (kopi) to help another less active senior (toast) to self-discover his or her interests so as to live a more engaged and active lifestyle. The graduates received a certificate from the event’s guest-of-honour, Heng Chee How, Senior Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, and chairman of the Active Ageing and Employability Sub-committee.
