Am I old?

by | March 5, 2020

A stand-up comedy act about ageing and caregiving.

What happens when a 68-year-old woman tries her hand at stand-up comedy for the first time after a decade as a caregiver to her mother? Her inhibitions are lowered, the truth is spoken, and all hell breaks loose. Savitri, a retired school teacher, attempts jokes about unrequited love, being a caregiver, and of course, coming to terms with ageing.

An irrepressibly charming character essayed and played by Sharul Channa (nominee, Best Actress, The Straits Times, Life! Theatre Awards 2020), delivers her unique brand of dark comedy that tackles social issues, “Am I Old” will force us to face some difficult questions of our own to do with Singapore’s ageing population.

There will be a talk-back session at the end of the show with a member of AWARE (which is supporting the event and the caregiving aspect was based on material from its research report “Make Care Count”), a family caregiver and a senior.

The event starts on March 6 to 9 at the Drama Centre Black Box. Tickets can be purchased for S$30 at SISTIC here.
