Splash Productions collaborates with inclusive fashion brand Will & Well to come up with a functional T-shirt for every body.

The inclusive T-shirts.

“Made for every body. Built by everybody.” This was a slogan of OneTee, Singapore’s first inclusive, functional T-shirt designed for every body.

The shirt came about through diversity dialogues which began last year and was co-created by Singapore creative agency Splash Productions in collaboration with inclusive fashion brand Will & Well. OneTee was developed with direct input from persons with disabilities, caregivers and individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Splash Productions’ managing director, Jerome Lau, continued: “We sat down to talk honestly about what inclusion actually feels like in daily life. What happened in that room surprised us because it was so ordinary. People talked about everyday tasks, like getting dressed in the morning or choosing footwear. They spoke about wanting to make a good impression but not always knowing how. We realised that this is what inclusion boils down to – the small, everyday moments.”

The new T-shirt has inclusive design features such as larger armholes, magnetic collar snaps making the collar’s width adjustable, side zippers to adjust the shirt’s length as well as prevent it from bunching up while a person is in a wheelchair. There is also Braille letters spelling “Project OneTee” for those visually impaired so they can feel what they are wearing.

The first edition of the shirt came in white, while two new colours including midnight blue and burgundy were launched during a panel discussion recently titled “The Realities of Inclusion in Singapore”. The panel included Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Law and the Ministry of Social and Family Development; John See Toh, president of the Singapore Association for the Visually Handicapped, co-founder and advisor of inclusive sports movement, Runninghour, and co-founder of BGA Inclusive Fitness; Dylan Lau, senior executive and CAREbuddy at CaringSG, a charity supporting caregivers for family members with special needs; and Elisa Lim, founder of Will & Well.

The OneTee can be purchased at S$68 at Will & Well’s website. The T-shirt can be washed normally.
