Become a Silver Infocomm Wellness Ambassador
Nominations are open for advocates of IT adoption so they can inspire other seniors to embrace IT.
More and more seniors are using Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to expand their knowledge, pursue hobbies, and keep in touch with friends and families. Over the years, there has been a steady increase in the percentage of seniors using the Internet. According to the Infocomm Usage by Household and Individuals Survey, the percentage of Internet users aged 50 and above rose from 32 percent in 2006 to 51 percent in 2014.
Based on the survey findings, the top three primary Internet activities in 2014 were related to leisure, getting information and communications, and staying connected on social networks. As more seniors become tech-savvy, the hope is for them to inspire their peers to use ICT in their lives. So if you have embraced ICT in your daily life and have inspired your peers to use ICT to enhance their lives and well-being, come and be a Silver Infocomm Wellness Ambassador (SIWA). You can also nominate a friend who has been an inspiration. Nominees must be Singapore citizens or PRs aged 50 and above.
The Silver Infocomm Wellness Ambassador is an initiative by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) and People’s Association Active Ageing Council (PA AAC). Appointed ambassadors will each receive S$100 worth of shopping vouchers.
