Themed “Eye Care for All”, Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) recently organised the 19th National Eye Care Day. Initiated in 2000, this annual community event promotes eye health among Singaporeans of all ages.
Besides SNEC, eye departments of Sengkang General Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, National University Hospital as well as Jurong Medical Centre took part in offering free eye screening services at the respective hospitals. These free eye screenings, including diabetic eye screening, were offered to those aged 55 and above.
This year’s event also had a low-vision rehabilitation hands-on workshop jointly organised by SNEC and Apple Singapore on accessibility features for iPhone and iPad for participants with low-vision and caregivers.
The event was graced by Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Health Amrin Amin.
