There will be 20 Giant Delight SG60 Edition installations celebrating the stories, landmarks and memories unique to each neighbourhood.

This October, Singapore’s heartlands will be transformed into colourful showcases of creativity and community spirit with 20 Giant Delight SG60 Edition installations celebrating the stories, landmarks and memories unique to each neighbourhood.

Organised by the People’s Association (PA) and led by the Community Arts & Culture Clubs (CACCs), each installation comprises prefabricated structures that have been co-created by local artists and residents to reflect the community’s distinctive spirit and identity.  Together, these larger-than-life creations form a nationwide showcase of art and storytelling under this year’s PAssionArts Festival 2025 theme, “Our Neighbourhood Gems”, spotlighting the people and places that make Singapore’s heartlands truly special.

The Giant Delight SG60 Edition is a key highlight of the PAssionArts Festival 2025 and the first series – featuring five interactive Mega Giant Delight installations comprising of five life-sized hexagonal pods each, unveiled during the National Day Heartland Celebrations.  This initiative transforms and brings excitement to public spaces through community storytelling, celebrates creativity, connection and collaboration in the various neighbourhoods.

The second series, featuring 15 smaller Giant Delight installations, have been progressively rolled out, each reflecting its distinct neighbourhood story:

a. Voice of Woodlands: Past, Present & Beyond (Admiralty Giant Delight): Led by artist Kelvin Seah, this installation captures Sembawang’s rich coastal heritage, once defined by mangrove swamps and fishing villages. Through a series of murals, it traces the community’s journey from waterfront kampung life to a traditional marketplace, paying tribute to its maritime roots and evolution into the vibrant town it is today.

The artwork evokes fond memories of legendary food stalls and bustling train rides, sentiments shared by longtime residents. “We used to go to the railway station … as children, we like to run around,” recalls 73-year-old Chan Ah Hiok, 73, who grew up in the area.

Neighbours in Bloom (Radin Mas Giant Delight): Artist Royston Phang’s installation celebrates the spirit of neighbourliness through the butterfly, a long-standing symbol of Radin Mas inspired by its iconic butterfly sculpture, representing transformation and renewal. One of the featured artworks also depicts Radin Mas Ayu, the Golden Princess and Javanese heroine whose name graces the estate. Her story of grace, courage and compassion echoes the community’s enduring resilience and warmth. Through vibrant colours and 3D design, Neighbours in Bloom captures the spirit of unity and heartfelt connections that define the Radin Mas community.

f. It’s a Good Place (Tampines North Giant Delight): Inspired by Tampines’ status as one of Singapore’s pioneering eco-towns, artist Esther Ng’s installation celebrates the district’s lush green features and extensive cycling paths. A striking TV test pattern motif, first suggested by residents as a tribute to a well-known HDB block mural, anchors the design and symbolises how the community continues to shape its unique identity. Tampines resident Loo Mei Leng, 65, shared, “Tampines holds a special place in our hearts. It has a distinctive heartland charm – a close-knit, easy-going community spirit that’s truly one of a kind. Residents often stop by to admire the art installations, lend a hand with the painting, or simply share a moment together.”

Tan Swee Leng, director of the Arts & Culture Division, People’s Association, said, “The Giant Delight SG60 Edition continues to expand across the island, with many of these installations already on display in the neighbourhoods and others to be unveiled in the coming weeks. Alongside the earlier Mega Giant Delights launched since August, these artworks celebrate the theme ‘Our Neighbourhood Gems’ – showcasing the creativity, pride and stories that make each community special. Every Giant Delight stands as a testament to co-creation, bringing neighbours and artists together to transform shared memories into living works of art.”

The full series of 20 Giant Delight artworks will be on display progressively through March 2026.
