IMH discontinues its Mental Health Helpline number

by | June 19, 2025

It has been replaced with national mindline 1771.

With the launch of Singapore’s first national mental health helpline and textline service, national mindline 1771, the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) will be retiring its Mental Health Helpline (MHH) 6389 2222.

IMH launched MHH in 2007 for patients discharged from the hospital and their caregivers who might require support during recovery. The helpline was later made available to members of the public in 2014, serving as a triage and advice resource for individuals facing emotional or mental health challenges ranging from emotional distress, relationship and family conflicts to enquiries related to mental health conditions and providing support to loved ones with mental health struggles.

To ease the transition to national mindline 1771, IMH has put in place a temporary measure to route all calls to 6389 2222 to national mindline 1771. From 6pm, now to September 30, 2025, individuals who call 6389 2222 will hear a recorded message that the number is no longer in use, before their call is automatically forwarded and they are connected with a counsellor from national mindline 1771 for mental health support.

Moving forward, for mental health support, the public can reach national mindline 1771 via:

▪ Hotline: Dial 1771

▪ WhatsApp: Message 6669-1771

▪ Webchat: Visit mindline.sg/fsmh
