This first evening edition includes a walk through iconic Singapore landmarks.

In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) 2024, Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) is celebrating the 16th anniversary of its signature Pink Ribbon Walk event which will be held on October 26, 2024, 5.30pm at Marina Barrage. It will be the first evening edition where participants will walk through iconic Singapore landmarks, raising awareness about breast cancer and promoting early detection.

With breast cancer as the most commonly occurring cancer among women in Singapore, accounting for nearly 30 percent of all cancers diagnosed in females, the importance of BCAM every October grows stronger each year. There is a stronger emphasis on the widespread impact of breast cancer and the critical need for early detection. Through heightened awareness during this particular month, more women are encouraged to seek timely mammograms, leading to earlier diagnoses and significantly improved survival rates.

“While October is synonymous with breast cancer awareness, it is important to acknowledge that developing excellent breast health habits and awareness is an ongoing dedication throughout the year. The launch of our iconic events is a testament to our ongoing commitment to heightening awareness about breast cancer, promoting early detection, and being the main port-of-call for all things breast-cancer related,” said Adeline Kow, general manager, Breast Cancer Foundation.

She added, “At BCF, we believe in the power of community. Pink Ribbon Walk is more than just an event; it is a movement that brings people together to support, inspire, and create lasting impact. This year, we continue our mission to empower individuals and families who have been affected by the disease, fostering a proactive approach to breast health and ensuring no one faces their breast cancer journey alone.”

This year’s Pink Ribbon Walk is targeting more than 5,000 participants to embark on either a 3km or 5km walk. There will also be an expanded carnival with fringe activities and opportunities for participants to connect with survivors, caregivers, and partners. The event will be graced by Rahayu Mahzam, Minister of State, Ministry of Digital Development and Information & Ministry of Health as guest-of-honour.
