PG family members can now shop on PG’s behalf to enjoy PG discounts.

 

NTUC FairPrice has reinstated its Pioneer Generation (PG) Proxy Initiative that was first introduced during the circuit breaker last year to continue protecting the well-being of more seniors in the community.

As Singapore returns to Phase 2 (Heightened Alert), FairPrice is encouraging seniors to stay home and is making an exception for their family members to enjoy the special savings as they assist PG members to run their errands. This initiative takes effect till August 31, 2021.

Family members of PGs can simply present the PG card of their kin to enjoy the three percent discount (valid for purchases up to S$200 on the discount day) at FairPrice and Unity outlets when they shop on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Seah Kian Peng, Group CEO of FairPrice Group, said, “We note with concern that there are still many seniors aged 70 and above who have not been vaccinated as yet. To ensure their safety, we are reinstating the PG Proxy Initiative. Beyond helping seniors to stretch their dollar, this initiative also encourages family members to check in with their elderly parents who may be living on their own as we recognise having strong family support is important to one’s overall well-being.”

** FairPrice also has a Seniors Discount (SDC) Scheme for immobile seniors aged 60 and above who are unable to be present at its stores to enjoy the discounts for Seniors Discount, PG Discount or Medeka Generation (MG) Discount. The senior, or his or her appointed representative, may apply for the SDC privilege from NTUC FairPrice Co-operative to make purchases on behalf of the senior, and be entitled to the Seniors Discount, PG or MG Discount for purchases up to S$200 on the discount day. The card is valid for two years. To enjoy the discount, the SDC card and the senior’s identification card must be presented to the cashier before payment.
