Concord International Hospital launches campaign and is one of the hospitals participating in the Mammogram Funding Assistance programme.

 

Concord International Hospital (CIH) has launched #SharingtheWordbyCIH campaign to increase awareness and encourage positive action amongst women and their families towards breast cancer. The campaign comprises a series of activities to be held throughout October into November, in conjunction with the Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) 2018.

CIH has joined the Singapore Cancer Society’s (SCS) BCAM Screening Mammogram Funding Assistance programme as a participating hospital, with the aim of encouraging more women above 50 years of age to go for screening mammograms. The Society offers a $25 funding assistance for all women in this age group who are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents for screening between October 1, 2018 and January 31, 2019.

The hospital has also started an online drive to engage social media influencers in promoting breast cancer awareness by donning a pink ribbon and pink outfits in October. CIH has extended special notes from breast cancer warriors to the influencers with the aim of encouraging those affected by breast cancer to fight the battle with courage and hope. In addition, CIH has also created an EDM highlighting key breast self-examination tips for women.

We are thus very excited to be part of the Singapore Cancer Society’s screening mammogram initiative and hope that eligible women will take the step to get screened. Through our efforts, we hope our community will think and wear pink for the sake of the beloved women in our lives,” said Dr Ong Kong Wee, breast surgeon and medical director, Concord International Hospital.

Breast cancer is the number one cancer diagnosed in Singaporean women. Early detection of cancer, made possible by regular screening mammogram, is vital as it can save lives.
