Special discount on NTUC FairPrice’s Pasar fresh eggs
Purchase limited to two trays per customer while stocks last.
NTUC FairPrice (FairPrice) will be providing a special discount on its housebrand Pasar Fresh Eggs (30s) and absorbing the rising costs. From April 20 to 27, Pasar Fresh Eggs (30s) will be offered at a discounted price of S$6.95, while stocks last, from the existing price of S$7.50. This will be made available across all FairPrice supermarket retail formats including FairPrice Online. To allow more customers to benefit from this, each customer may purchase up to two trays of 30 eggs during the promotional period.
Recent events such as the ongoing pandemic and the war in Ukraine have disrupted the economy and businesses on an unprecedented scale. This has led to prices of eggs increasing due to the increased cost of chicken feed, logistics, manpower shortages and volatile market conditions. The situation was further aggravated by supply disruptions in local farms caused by the Newcastle disease (a contagious and fatal viral disease affecting the respiratory, nervous and digestive systems of birds and poultry), which caused a temporary drop in hens’ egg production.
Tng Ah Yiam, chief procurement office of FairPrice Group, said, “We assure the public that there is no shortage of eggs as we import from many different sources to ensure that we are not reliant only on a single source of supply.” FairPrice currently offers over 60 SKUs (stock keeping units) of eggs of varying brands imported from seven countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, Poland, in addition to sourcing locally.
** Giant has also reduced the price of its Giant Farm Fresh Eggs from S$7.50 to S$6.50 per tray of 30. The promotion will last until Hari Raya Aidilfitri on May 3.
