Free Pap smear screening to eligible women

by | May 8, 2017

This year’s Singapore Cancer Society’s Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Campaign raises greater awareness of early detection and screening of uterine, ovarian and cervical cancers.

Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) is organising its 4th annual Women’s Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Campaign (WGCAM) from now until July 31, 2017. WGCAM 2017 aims to raise greater awareness of early detection and screening of women’s gynaecological cancers, namely uterine, ovarian and cervical cancers, which are among the top 10 cancers in Singaporean women.

For WGCAM 2017, SCS is collaborating with General Practitioners (GPs) to conduct Pap smear screening at their clinics at no charge for eligible women. To date, more than 160 GP clinics islandwide have joined the SCS WGCAM campaign to provide Pap smear screening from now to July 31, 2017. This screening is available to all female Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged between 25 and 69 years who have had sex, and have not had a Pap smear in the last three years. To see the list of participating clinics, go to: www.singaporecancersociety.org.sg/events/campaigns/women-s-gynaecological-cancer-campaign.html#where-to-get-screened. Pap smears are also available by appointment at the SCS Multi-Service Centre located at the Bishan Junction 8 Office Tower.

In addition to the screening, as part of WGCAM 2017, SCS will be organising two Women’s Gynaecological Cancer Healthy Work Out sessions to educate ladies on women’s gynaecological cancers and at the same time, encourage them to exercise and lead an active lifestyle. These workout sessions will be held on May 20 and July 8 from 10am to 12pm at Bedok Town Square and Our Tampines Hub respectively. Admission is free. Participants can call 6421 5860 to register, e-mail to: communityhealth@singaporecancersociety.org.sg or visit www.singaporecancersociety.org.sg.
