Ten seniors have specially curated workshops and experiences showcasing their talents and skills as part of an auction to raise funds for charity. The inaugural auction called Age with Grace, Create with Passion is run by the HeartBid+ Project that hopes to share the seniors’ talents with the public, while fundraising for a good cause. It is supported by the National Youth Council as part of the Youth Action Challenge to “encourage active senior giving”.

There is artist, designer, public sculptor and art education Robert Min Chen who is offering pottery workshop sessions – S$138 for a single session, or S$950 and above for 11 sessions. Bidders can also consider other experiences such as nature, and art and heritage walks; wood and resin artistry, and crochet workshops; and culinary courses that let bidders whip up steamed sponge cake and sweet potato balls, and prata. There are also private cooking classes with Ruqxana Vasanwala from Cookery Magic.

Bidders can learn how to make steamed sponge cake and sweet potato balls.

In addition to the seniors’ programmes, the HeartBid+ auction is offering bidders handcrafted artworks personally made by seniors from Bethesda Care Centre’s (BCARE) Senior Activity Centre. The artworks’ starting bid ranges from S$200 to S$300 per piece, and include designs such as koi fish and flowers. Proceeds raised from the auction are donated to BCARE, which supports children, youths, families and seniors with mental health conditions.

The auction is running now till September 23, 2023.
